In Foundation 2 we plan from the children’s interests. We provide our children with creative provision to ensure they develop the necessary skills across all the areas of development to achieve or exceed the Early Learning Goals.

Topics last usually for a week or two and reflect the children's interests. Favourite topics have included dinosaurs, pirates, super heroes, dragons and castles. Some topics are based on favourite stories, such as We’re going on a Bear Hunt, The Gingerbread Man, or an author such as Julia Donaldson. Our aim in Foundation 2 is to provide experiences which are imaginative, challenging and fun! We encourage children to develop their independence and investigative skills outlined in the characteristics of learning.

Our stimulating environment provides excellent opportunities for learning in our continuous provision indoors and outdoors!

School dinners and snack

Our school dinners provide a good variety including; two hot meal options as well as a jacket potato and sandwich with a choice of different fillings to satisfy many different appetites.

Children often enjoy having a snack at morning break and they can either bring in their own healthy snack or buy it in school. Please send snack money into school and store in a safe place perhaps in an envelope or purse/wallet (toast is 10p for half a slice and a cup drink is 30p).

Milk and a piece of fruit are given to your child each afternoon (milk is provided until your child turns 5).

For a brief overview of subjects taught within school, please see our Skills Overview Jigsaw below...
