Year 4 2018 - 2019

Miss Simon

Miss Howarth

In Year 4 we aim high and take pride in our work and behaviour, which we celebrate every day with dojos. We are working hard to become independent learners and using our learning powers to help us along the way, embracing challenge to help grow our brains. Our themes have come from the New National Curriculum, with the children choosing their own questions and leading their own learning to keep them engaged and make it fun.

We cover a variety of fiction and non-fiction themes in Literacy such as; Myths & Legends, settings and character descriptions through narratives, different forms of poetry and playscripts and chronological and non-chronological writing.

Our busy working walls are used in both Literacy and Maths. We add language we have created, ideas taken from books we have read and also any SPAG activites we have completed. We also add methods for working out and key maths terms on our Maths wall.

Our theme wall will change as we cover new topics. As you can see we have recently completed work on the Romans!

Summer Term Theme Work

  • We will be emmersing ourselves in learning about Chester Zoo through an exciting new initiative, 'The Zoo Project'. We will be looking at the history of the zoo, endangered animals and sustainable palm oil.
  • In Science, we will be looking at Living and Non Living Things in Summer 1 and Sound in Summer 2.
  • Our local Geography will look at Conwy through our residential trip in June.
