Mrs Hope

In year 5 we aim high and take pride in our work and behaviour. As we are growing in maturity and knowledge, we are working towards independence in our learning journey, having more opportunity to make our own informed decisions.

Our topics so far have included:

What is it like in South America?

What was it like in World War 1?

Could I live on the moon?

Summer Term

Our Summer term brings a new, exciting whole school approach to learning through our participation in the Chester Zoo project. Over the duration of the term, we will be bringing our learning to life by discovering the devastating impact of deforestation caused by growing palm oil plantations around the world. We will use our new, growing knowledge to help educate, inform and persuade others (as well as ourselves) to make a difference to the world we know and love, therefore becoming more respectful, responsible citizens of the future.

The topics our project will link to are:

Literacy- The Hunter by Paul Geraghty and The Shaman's Appretice by Lynne Cherry.

Science- Living things and their habitats and Animals inlcuding humans

History- History of the zoo

Georgraphy- Location and place knowledge

Art- Structures and Collage

Mathematics- Meausure, Geometry (Shape and position and direction)
