Year 6 is a very important year in Primary School. We prepare children for their transition into Secondary School by focusing on their independence and resilience.

We encourage all children to be themselves and aim to support different types of learners through our 'Pack Types'.

This year, our learning will be achieved through our three main projects. They are as follows:

Autumn Term - On the Doorstep: Has the last 50 years been the rise or fall of Ellesmere Port?

Spring Term - Down the Road: War and Peace

Summer Term - Over the Water: Natural Disasters

The children are expected to read at home at least 3 times a week. They can read independently if they are able readers but please make sure you ask them about what they have read and write this in their log.

The children will also be given spellings to practice each Friday. These will be spellings that are personal to them and linked to the specific spellings they have to learn in KS2. If your child is an able speller, encourage them to find out what the words mean so that they can then apply these words in their writing.

PackTypes homework will also be sent once a term. The children are asked to complete one activity a week and then send photographs through class dojo or bring it into school. This homework will be sent out via class dojo.

The children have their logins for Times Table Rockstar too so please encourage them to practice this at home.

The children have PE on Wednesday. They should come to school wearing their school PE kit which consists of white top, black shorts/leggings/pants and trainers. They can also wear a black jumper or their red school jumper.

They also have swimming on Mondays.
