School Meals

Whats for lunch?

From Summer term 2021 we have switched to in-house catering. This new change means we have more control over menu choices whilst continuing to follow healthy eating guidelines. With the feedback received from parents, pupils and staff we have put together a new menu which changes on a 3 week cycle (please see 'Files to Download' at the bottom of this page).

We are pleased to announce that as our lunch service will be not-for-profit we are able to improve the quality of food as well as portion size. We will continue to offer 2 hot choices (hot option 2 is always vegetarian) as well as a jacket potato or a sandwich. Due to Covid restrictions on numbers of pupils allowed in the school hall our junior pupils will continue to eat lunch in their classrooms. This means that for the time being we have to choose meals that are easy to transport; once restrictions ease we will look to introduce other menu items.

If your child has any food allergies you MUST inform the school office by emailing to give details. Please always let the school office know of any changes to your child’s dietary requirements.

We will no longer be using the ‘Live Kitchen’ system for pre-orders and payments. Instead, we will go back to good old fashioned pen and paper ordering during morning registration. We hope that future updates of School Spider will enable online ordering to work in a similar way as Live Kitchen did so we will keep you informed.

The cost of a pupil meal is £2.30. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals or is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 (UIFSM: Universal Infant Free School Meals) then there is no cost.

To pay for school meals please log in to School Spider and on the Main Menu select ‘Payments’. Here you will have the option to pay for:

  • A single school dinner (£2.30)
  • A week’s worth of school dinners (£11.50)
  • £10 denomination

For all payment options you can select multiples. If you do not know your School Spider log in details please contact the school office.

Alternatively, children may bring a packed lunch to school; packed lunches should have a balance of healthy foods and non-fizzy drinks and must be stored in a throw-away bag in accordance with coronavirus guidance. Drinks must be brought to school in an unbreakable plastic flask or container. We ask that you do not send your child to school with a glass container or bottle.

You may quality if you are a parent, guardian or carer and receive one of the following:

Please contact the Free School Meals Team on 0300 123 7039 if you feel you may quality. School receives valuable extra funding for children who are eligible, so please do phone!

Snack will continue to be paid by cash, costs as follows: Toast 20p per slice, Cup juice 30p. Following parent feedback we will look to introduce more snack choices over the coming weeks.
