School Closure 04.12.18

As you know, during annual cyclical maintenance on Friday, we were found to have a gas leak. The gas leak does not affect school's heating system, as we use oil, however, it does affect hot water. Although work is ongoing around the repair of the leak, we have made the decision to close school on Tuesday 4th December. The decision was made as we have been advised that the repairs are unlikely to be finished today. Although we have provided hand sanitisers in the absence of hot water, the advice from Public Health is that they are not an alternative to adequate hand washing, and we have also been advised by our Health & Safety Officer that this should be no longer than 24 hours. In addition, the lack of hot water to adequately disinfect the school premises has led to this decision. We hope to get the school thoroughly cleaned and disinfected by the close of day on Tuesday 4th December, ready for normal opening on Wednesday 5th December. However, should this situation change, we will endeavour to let you know as soon as is practically possible. Obviously, we will have to postpone Bingo until further notice also.

Please be assured that we do not take this decision lightly and we hope that you understand the reasons for this measure.
